Some facets of the rules that will govern the pre-convention presidential nomination vote are flying under the radar
In a virtual meeting held on Wednesday, July 24, the Democratic convention Rules Committee adopted, among other things, the rules package that will dictate how a presidential candidate will be nominated by the party for 2024. These rules have taken on increased importance in recent days following President Biden's withdrawal from the race but also because of ballot access concerns triggered by the timing of the party’s August convention.1
Importantly, this will all happen virtually prior to delegates gathering in person in Chicago for the convention.
