On second thought, conflicts arise in Michigan Republicans' delegate selection plan for 2024

The plan adopted in June does not pass muster with the RNC

Faced with the possibility of sanctions from the national party because of a 2024 presidential primary scheduled too early under RNC rules, Michigan Republicans last month adopted a hybrid primary/caucus plan instead. And even done in consultation with the Republican National Committee, that plan to allocate some delegates based on the results of the February 27 primary and the remainder a few days later in congressional district caucuses, pushed the limits in a number of areas of the national party rules.

It did not exactly come as a surprise, then, that the intricate (and perhaps innovative) plan that the state party in the Great Lakes state had put forth ran into problems with the RNC. But what is driving the friction?
