More on the "nitty-gritty battle for delegates"
Some additional context on that AP delegate article and an update on 2024 calendar/rule activity
The AP’s Michelle L. Price recently had a piece that picked up the thread in stories that have sporadically popped up this year describing the yeoman’s work the Trump campaign is doing, often behind the scenes, to further tweak the delegate selection process in the favor of the former president for the 2024 cycle.
Indeed, Price brings the goods. It is a piece that is chock full of details on how Trump and his campaign have worked to influence state party officials ahead of their decisions on how to allocate and select delegates next year. And the premise is simple enough: Trump has won some battles along the way in moving the rules in his direction. However, some of the important context on the rules outcomes in some of those battles is lacking and scoring other battles as wins is, perhaps, more inconclusive in other cases.
Below is an attempt to provide some context where space did not allow in news accounts.
