Missouri Democrats finally weigh in on 2024 delegate selection

Plus changes to delegate allocation rules from Republicans in Massachusetts and Montana

It is getting late in the season for delegate selection rules to first be making their appearance. That is especially true on the Democratic side, where state parties had a May 3 deadline to initially submit draft plans to the national party. Yet, as 2023 stretched into August there were still a pair of states — well, one state and one territory — from where plans had not come to light. But last week Missouri Democrats posted their draft delegate selection plan for public comment and Guam Democrats met on August 29 with “DNC updates” on the agenda.

And Republican state parties continue to work against the clock as an October 1 deadline approaches for 2024 plans for delegate allocation and selection to be submitted to the Republican National Committee under Rule 16(f). As the days in August wane and transition to September, plans on the state level continue to trickle out with some notable changes to delegate selection rules from the 2020 baseline.
