California Republicans poised to use a different proportional scheme in 2024
The proposed delegate allocation system is a departure from the method the party used in 2020
Earlier this month there was some outrage expressed among a faction of Trump supporters over a proposal making the rounds in California for how the Republican Party in the Golden state plans to allocate national convention delegates in 2024.
As it turns out, much of that reaction was a bit, ahem, trumped up. The proposed delegate allocation scheme that the California Republican Party Executive Committee will consider before likely passing it off to the state convention in September offers a bit of a mixed bag for a candidate in Trump’s position, the frontrunner in the race for 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
So what is different for 2024? How does the proposed plan differ from how California Republicans have historically allocated delegates? How does it differ from how Republicans in the Golden state handled the process in 2020?
